Von vielen steilen Auf- und Abstiegen geprägte Etappe. Die zweite Hälfte ist landschaftlich deutlich reizvoller als die erste. Bei Kilometer 12, nach dem Abstieg vom Passo di Pietra Tagliata, passiert man ein glazial geformtes Becken mit mehreren Quellen - den Lagerfeuerspuren zu folgen ein nicht nur wunderschöner, sondern auch im Sommer gern genutzter Ort zum Übernachten unter freiem Himmel.
