There is currently no book that describes the entire E1. Due to its length, this would probably be impossible for a hiking guide in book form. However, literature in the form of hiking guides or hiking reports is available for individual sections.

Until a few years ago, this was the "standard work" on E1 with stage descriptions and overview maps for the section in Germany and Switzerland. Brief notes on the further course to Genoa. Particularly in northern Switzerland, but also in other passages, the route now deviates from the route described in the book. The information is partly outdated. A current edition is unfortunately not available and also not in planning.
