Von der Varaustupa aus führt der Weg in südliche Richtung über eine Brücke, die den Bierfejohka überspannt. Direkt dahinter führt links der Abzweig zur Autiotupa (offenen Hütte) von Meekonjärvi. Der auffällig aufragende Berg Saivaara in der Nähe der Hütte ist eines der optischen Highlights dieser ansonsten recht monotonen Etappe. Da man sich hier noch auf der Halti-Route befindet muss weiterhin mit vollen Hütten gerechnet werden.
